As the Third-in-a-Series, Manatee Dance is showcased as a holiday ornament that pays tribute to Florida's official state marine mammal. The first piece of artwork commissioned by the Mansion Foundation, this outdoor sculpture was specifically created for the school children of Florida. Dedicated in 1990 by Governor and Mrs. Bob Martinez, Tallahassee artist Hugh Nicholson's graceful depiction of a family of manatees continues to delight visitors and bring attention to the plight of our gentle, native wildlifestill in need of protection. The Florida Governor's Mansion Foundation is proud to present an image of this bronze sculpture, set within a delicate 24 kt. Gold-finished frame of papyrus and water lilies.
