Fifty-four selected African-American stories spanning over 400 years of Florida history will provide readers with a better understanding of how much the African Americans of Florida have endured and the contributions they have made to Florida's history. Some of the stories are about well-known people, like Carrie Pittman Meek and Ray Charles, while many names are not so familiar- all will prove inspirational and enriching, however. Also included are detailed descriptions of the 141 historical and cultural sites on the Florida Black Heritage Trail and a calendar of significant dates in the history of African Americans in Florida.
