A Florida sea life favorite, dolphins are highly intelligent and sociable mammals. Rarely seen alone, dolphins live and travel in small groups or pods and have a complex social order which is essential to their hunting and reproduction. The typical home range of the bottle-nosed dolphin in Florida is 14 square miles. Dolphins seem to like being around people and often swim around boats, often riding the waves off the bow of a boat and gliding along with a boost from the bow wave.
